A cold weekend with temperatures below zero in many parts of the country today.
The intense cold seen by most of the country for the past three days will start to ease today, but even so the weekend before Christmas will be very cold in the north and centre of the country.
The snow line is down to just 200-500m in the north of the country.
In the south as the temperatures rise, the rain returns to the extent that there could be local flooding in Cádiz and Huelva.
Wednesday night saw -12.3 degrees at the Navacerrada ski resport on Madrid and it was just – 6.3 in Villanueva de los infants in Ciudad Real.
Despite the cold continuing in the centre and north of the country today, there are no alerts in place from the Spanish Meteorological Agency.
NW winds, weak to moderate in the NE of the mainland and on the Baleares where there will be strong intervals.
Levante strong winds in the Strait, weakening during the day.
SW strong winds on the Canaries, with gale force gusts.

Rain this weekend in the Canaries and Andalucía, starting on the islands today, moving up into the Cádiz Bay on Saturday from where they will reach most of Andalucía. The rain will extend to the southern half of the country on Sunday.
