Hello all!
Just joined the forum as I am also a massive fan of Spain. I visit 3-4 times a year and also have family in Mallorca so very lucky indeed.
Looking forward to having some interesting discussions here on the forum!

Welcome to the forum. You are lucky to have a family in Mallorca. I've been going there for the past 24 years and have made loads of friends there - Spanish and English - and think it is a beautiful island.

I have to admit to feeling like 'going home' every time we visit and it has been interesting seeing the changes over the years.

Feel free to join in and chat whenever you feel like it.

I first visited Majorca on our honeymoon in 1968. We were in Palma Nova and at that time it was no more than a couple of streets. Our hotel was up on the main road at the edge of the town. However, when we visited there again, many years later, we got off the bus at the start of the town, but couldn't find the hotel. After a lot of walking, we eventually found it, now in the centre of the town.
The changes were amazing. The small beach had now moved all the way round to the end of Torre Nova, with hotels, shops and bars all over the hill. In '68 this was purely a tree-covered hill, with no apparent access to it. There was now a road cut through to Magaluf, when previously you needed to go back up to the main road and right round Palma Nova to get there! Magaluf was a bit of a classy resort in those days, much more expensive than lowly Palma Nova and very different from today!
We have been to Majorca many times since then, but much prefer to stay in Palma City, rather than the resorts.
