| There is nothing nicer than sitting outside a cafe with a tall glass of bacardi & coke, known as a cuba libre. However, I've recently been informed that this term is 'old hat' and is now called purely a 'ron y cola'. I still like to stick to my cuba libre, however, or it's slang term 'una cubata'. The hateful thing is that the younger waiters are now asking you if you want it with gin or rum!!!!......aaaaaggghhhh GIN???

| Oh another cuba libre drinker That is the only drink we have. Nothing better with the glass half full of ice, a rather large splash of Ron barcadi and topped up with coke. | |

| I love how Spanish barmen measure drinks. A trick I learned early on is to ask for only one piece of ice. They generally would still pour the alcohol to the same imaginary mark as if there were two pieces. As your ice melts, you then pop into the bar and ask for another piece of ice, and maybe a second coke! We Scotsmen really know how to get value out of the Euro! (I really don't try this one, nowadays....honest!) | |
