I do hope that the problem causing the threatened air strikes is solved very quickly.
From discussions I have listened to it would appear that families on the whole are seeking holidays where they can get the most value for money. After all we are in a recession. Therefore all inclusive package holidays seem to be more in demand this year. Countries that are gaining out of Spain's loss tend to be Eastern European countries; Greece or long haul deals.
Spain used to be one of the cheaper more value for money holidays but in recent years (especially since getting rid of the peseta) the cost of living and holidaying has increased considerably.
Now I love Spain - naturally - and I will be returning again this year but with the threat of holidays being disrupted, or even worse cancelled at the last minute, I can only imagine that those looking to book their holidays now may well be considering going elsewhere rather than risk having their annual holidays ruined.
I do worry about our Spanish friends and their businesses. We have noticed ourselves how over the years the amount of people visiting Spain has either reduced or been replaced by all inclusive holidays where holiday makers spend their evenings in the hotel grounds eating, drinking and being entertained.
With the recession hitting Spain hard and unemployment being high I just hope that the air strikes threat does not hit them even harder.
