Have you managed to fulfil your dream and live in Spain and if so is it what you expected it to be?
A lot of people say that we look through rose-tinted glasses at life in Spain. That when you are used to having holidays abroad you naturally feel relaxed and get into the holiday mood and that living there full time is not the same as taking a holiday.
The main problem seems to be adapting to a different culture and lifestyle coupled to learning a new language - not just to be used for a couple of weeks a year - but for all time that you live in that country.
How have you found adapting? Is it hard after the 'honeymoon' period is over? Do silly things frustrate and annoy you or do you just take to the new lifestyle like a duck to water?
Now, personally, I am not in a position to move to Spain full-time, as yet, but nothing is ruled out. We have been returning to Spain once or twice a year for the past 23 years and we do have Spanish friends so I feel that we have some insight into life in Spain. However the day to day living, which you know totally in the UK, has to be discovered in another country. From finding a plumber, to applying for broadband, all these things have to be discovered. What do you do when something goes wrong and who do you turn to or contact?
All the knowledge you have here in the UK is totally useless when faced with living in another country.
So how have you done? Would you do it again? Do you wish you'd done it earlier?
Pop in here and tell us all about your experiences.
Give us some of your knowledge....
